Sanders was referring to President Rodrigo Duterte and the complaints filed against him by the group of Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, and fellow Magdalo Gary Alejano.

Dr. Sanders said during the forum that the case filed against Duterte could be politically motivated and does not carry the voice of the majority.

Duterte’s current approval rating sits at 78% which is considered “very high” according to sanders.

“Based from the documents circulated to the delegates, the cases filed against the Philippine President was sponsored by politicians. This alone can raise many questions. Why politicians? Why not civil society groups? And based on the latest report coming from the Philippines, President Duterte’s public approval rating sits at 75%. Is this the type of man who kill his own people? I’m not convinced”, Sanders as quoted during his speech.
